On June 27, the Oscar-winning documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” was screened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje.

“20 Days in Mariupol” captures the harrowing experiences of Ukrainian journalists trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol during the Russian invasion. The Associated Press video journalist Mstyslav Chernov, photographer Evgeniy Maloletka, and producer Vasilisa Stepanenko arrived an hour before Russia began bombing the port city of Mariupol. The documentary highlights the atrocities committed and the resilience of those documenting the events, offering a powerful testament to the human spirit and the relentless pursuit of truth.

The event was organized within the framework of the recently concluded exhibition “Ukraine: A War Crime” open from June 12 to June 26 in Skopje. Supported by the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans, this screening continued the exhibition’s commitment to shedding light on the harsh realities faced by those in conflict zones. The film continues to raise awareness and provoke thought through its impactful storytelling. Attendees of the event experienced an evening of profound and moving narratives, gaining insights into the devastating impact of war through the eyes of those who lived it.
