On April 30, with the support of the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans and the FotoEvidence Association, the documentary  “20 Days in Mariupol,” winner of the “Best Documentary” award at the Oscars, was shown  at Kino Armata in Prishtina.  

In anticipation of the documentary, a panel discussion moderated by Lura Limani from Open Society Foundations—Western Balkans with Svetlana Bachevanova, the curator of the exhibition “Ukraine: A War Crime”, and Brendan Hoffman, a photojournalist based in Ukraine was held. Bachevanova alked about the journey of the photo book “Ukraine: A War Crime”, and Hoffman shared his experience as a photojournalist living in Ukraine for more than 10 years. 

After the panel, in cooperation with Dokufest and Kino Armata, the Oscar-winning documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” was screened. The film documents the 20-day stay of photojournalists Mstyslav Chernov and Evgeniy Maloletka in Mariupol, while the city is surrounded by Russian forces. Under the barrage of bullets and bombs, the two journalists cover and expose the horror of war crimes in Mariupol. 

This event was part of the exhibition “Ukraine: A War Crime” which showcased the extraordinary work of 93 photojournalists from around the world, in Prishtina. Following its journey in Tirana, and Prishtina, the exhibition will travel next to Skopje.
