Establishment of the Green Industrial Policy Institute in the Western Balkans, phase one.

Just Green Transition

Date 10 November 2024

The multiyear operational project supports the Western Balkans’ just green transition by fostering a fair and sustainable shift toward a low-carbon economy through research, policy guidance, advocacy, and technical assistance. In 2024, the work will focus on developing a concept and organizational plan to guide future implementation.

The project combines research, policy development, advocacy, and capacity building to ensure effective and widely adopted green industrial policies benefiting industries, policymakers, and other stakeholders. A key component will explore the topic of critical raw materials (CRMs)—essential for the region’s energy transition and green industrialization—through an assessment of the current landscape.

Another component aims to enhance the participation and negotiation capacity of Western Balkan delegations at the UN Climate Conferences (COPs), helping advance regional priorities within global climate frameworks.
