Green Generation 3.0 – Schools Engaged for Climate Action builds on the Sunny Schools program under OSF Western Balkans’ Just Green Transition framework, shifting from implementation to institutionalization and local ownership. The project aims to empower 66 legacy schools across the region to become independent drivers of sustainable energy transition and democratic governance. Its core objective is to transfer responsibility for the Green Generation model to schools and municipalities, enabling them to manage climate initiatives, reinvest solar savings, and shape local renewable energy and environmental education policies.

The initiative rests on two pillars: (1) Community Forums and Energy Democracy Clubs, led by trained school Steering Committees to institutionalize participatory governance and oversee reinvestment of solar savings; and (2) Student Climate Labs, where youth Climate Ambassadors conduct audits, design solutions, and lead advocacy actions, supported through workshops and a “Green Ideas Call.” Together, these components create a comprehensive model of energy democracy in schools. Expected results include operational participatory structures in all legacy schools, trained student leaders, transparent reinvestment processes, stronger local partnerships, and regional knowledge exchange—ultimately delivering a scalable and self-sustaining model for participatory climate governance.
