This one-year initiative jointly implemented by Partners Serbia, the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, “Zašto ne (Why not)”, Women in Tech Kosovo, NGO 35mm and Metamorphosis Foundation aims at advancing digital rights standards in the Western Balkan region and contributing to its successful integration into the Digital Single Market.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project addresses the unequal standards of digital rights and the overall lack of institutional infrastructure in the Western Balkan countries to adequately adopt and implement the EU digital rights legislation. The project will advance digital rights standards in the Western Balkan region and contribute to its successful integration into the Digital Single Market, by developing and utilizing a joint advocacy strategy for adequate alignment and protection of human rights in digital context, focusing on multi-stakeholder approach; increasing capacities of civil society, media organizations and relevant state actors in WB6 for engaging in digital rights-related regulatory processes and monitoring the implementation of relevant legislation, and raising awareness and foster dialogue and exchange among public, private, and civil society actors on digital rights issues, focusing on impact of DSA and DMA to digital rights in WB6.

LOCAL IMPACT
At the national level, the capacities of civil society, media organizations and relevant state actors in WB6 for engaging in digital rights-related regulatory processes and monitoring the implementation of relevant legislation will be increased. In addition, both at the national and regional level exchange among public, private, and civil society actors on digital rights issues, focusing on impact of DSA and DMA to digital rights in WB6 will be enabled.

REGIONAL IMPACT
At the regional level joint advocacy strategy for adequate alignment and protection of human rights in a digital context, focusing on a multi-stakeholder approach will be conducted in order to tackle the current situation in which the unequal standards of digital rights and the overall lack of institutional infrastructure in the Western Balkan countries are not enabling to adequately adopt and implement the EU digital rights legislation.
