The project “MEF Energy Forum 2026: Advancing Energy Transition and Climate Resilience on the Road to COP31” builds on a long-standing regional initiative that has evolved into one of the leading platforms for dialogue, cooperation, and action on energy transition in Southeast Europe. As long-term partners and supporters of the Forum, we continue to contribute to its development and impact, reinforcing its role as a key platform connecting regional priorities with global climate processes and positioning it as an important milestone on the Road to COP31.

Taking place in June 2026 in Skopje, the Forum will bring together high-level policymakers, ministers, international organizations, financial institutions, private sector leaders, and civil society actors. At a time when the Western Balkans face pressing challenges related to energy security, decarbonisation, and climate resilience, MEF 2026 provides a unique space to translate political commitments into actionable solutions, investment pipelines, and concrete policy frameworks aligned with EU and global climate goals.
Through a combination of high-level dialogues, thematic panels, and targeted stakeholder engagement, the Forum will address key priorities such as renewable energy deployment, coal phase-out pathways, climate finance, market integration, and just transition. A strong emphasis is placed on bridging the gap between policy and implementation, ensuring that discussions lead to tangible outcomes, partnerships, and coordinated regional action.

Beyond the event itself, the project includes a structured process of pre-event consultations and post-event follow-up activities, including the development of a policy-oriented outcome report and regional outreach efforts. These activities will culminate in a high-level contribution to COP31, ensuring that the perspectives and priorities of the Western Balkans are effectively represented in global climate discussions.

By linking regional dialogue with international climate diplomacy, MEF Energy Forum 2026 strengthens cooperation, mobilizes investment, and supports a just, inclusive, and resilient energy transition in the Western Balkans, reinforcing the region’s role as an active contributor to global climate action.
